And in time honoured tradition, it’s been a few days since the release of the last podcast featuring another game review of dubious quality, and like the sun rising and setting every day, the text of said review is posted for your vomiting eyes to over eat.

Episode 4’s review focused on EA’s Mass Effect.

Have I got something on my nose?

Well I say EA’s Mass Effect, it’s from Bioware who were swallowed up by the mammoth Electronic Arts evil games corporation in an attempt to bolster its gaming catalogue and creation of original game franchises. Bioware have made quite a number of Role-Playing games in the time it’s been around. We may remember Knights of the Old Republic, Neverwinter Nights and the ever popular with those suffering from various skin diseases, Baldur’s Gate.

All have been received with good reviews, and now moderately fresh out of the factory on PC, with the Xbox 60p version being released being released last year in yet another great decision to release things far later on PC.

First off this game features SEX! There’s a bit of naughty in the game, and it caused such hoopla in yankland, the land of the free and depressed. Fox News, those lovable rogues of the news world, who can find tragedy and outrage in someone not saying please., they brought out their news casters, and even had some fella from EA on just to accuse him of lying and that EA was responsible for 9/11 and probably World War 2. Who knew Hitler worked for EA?

People spotting…

Yes, this will throw off the police for sure...

Some people would say that to meet a person who has been on television is actually quite a difficult thing to do. You would have to go through a legion of PR people to only find out that because you are little Jimmy from no.47 and not the Queen, that obtaining an audience is most difficult.

Actually, it’s easier than you think. If you want to go spotting for people with a wee bit more money, just go to Soho Square.

I know what you are thinking. Soho, is the seedy place for going for “relaxation” and other colourful phrases which basically mean the same thing: You’re after a guaranteed bonk.

But instead of being a place where you would expect to find naughty dirty kinky sexy shops and other fellow humans aiming for your heart and body parts beyond, you will find a tight collection of well known companies such as Tiger Aspect Productions and 20th Century Fox. The FA are there are well, though being frank, the only thought that came into my mind is “shame it’s not on fire with them all in there…”

Site Update

Some of you have mentioned the site was running slow which was jolly helpful. Servage have worked their magic due to a bit of an issue on the database side of things and at the moment all is well. Ta very much!

Also it appears some addtional work needs to be done on the site, as in upgrading the backend php pages, some other parts have become, shall we say, not enitirely working. Grrrr!

A lazy man’s work is never done.

EDIT: Sorted out the issues I had earlier, which is great until something else goes wrong!

I’m going to make this pencil disappear…

Is that all he does at night? Not very clever really...

I’ve been sat in front of the computer screen for a number of hours now. The shiny cursor was flashing across the screen at the same point it had been opened with at the beginning of the endeavour. And you know what, I am stumped. I’ve watched repeats of Top Gear in that time, been and had a shower, which would shock people alone, and done some washing all the time that cursor has stayed in the same place on the screen.

I couldn’t put it off any more. I had to sit back down at the wireless keyboard with the crumbs of bread and marmite stains all rounded off with the dust of neglect and just begin typing whatever came into my head, hence this opening few paragraphs.

I suppose the issue about this particular brand of bloggers’ block, came about when I decided to write about the summer blockbuster film known as the Dark Knight.

The first things that kept popping into my head were two questions: Hands up who hasn’t seen the Dark Knight yet? One,two,three…. OK forget that. Hands up who thinks Heath Lodger has got an Oscar. Ok, that’s everyone then.

It’s been a bad week.

Well we’ve reached the end of a week in which quite a lot went wrong. I suspect now that this was the time of year where the warranties all expire, meaning the day afterwards, the lights no longer flicker, springs stop being sprung and a squeak develops on on the seat tilt control of you over-priced “office lifestyle” chair.

That basically sums up nicely the entire week, it just didn’t seem to stop at all. Night after night, coming back to mission control, after suffering more hot armpits on the tube and Docklands Light Railway, of which it truly depends what day you catch it on, as to whether or not it works, does indeed take it’s toll on your spirit and mind.

You’ve basically been going nowhere fast.

I can now understand why night after night, hordes of people in suits and possibly their own clothes go down to the bars and drink themselves silly. Even I succumbed to the need to drown the sorrows with the aid of the fruit portion known as “Cider.” Sometimes, because it can be such an intense time, it will affect your mood far more quickly than anywhere else you could possibly think of, with the current exceptions being the Middle East, Africa and China at the moment.

Let’s be fair, it’s not all sunshine in those places is it? Well it’s mostly smog in China but that’s a different matter.

When that fateful drink touched my lips, it went down a treat, the smooth silkiness of the apple-plumbed liquid on the mouth was something to be celebrated, something to be savoured.

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside!

Everyone, oh I do like to be beside the sea….oh never mind, it’s just something to try and lighten the mood given the fact that our weather system has come back with a vengeance. But it’s not bad news at all.

I rather like the rain myself, as I’ve said on a few occasions now, things feel fresher, it’s a lot cooler, and it keeps a lot of people away from you that smell. What’s not to like? Besides as human beings we can actually do something about the cold. We can put on other people’s clothes, and end up looking like the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters.

But when it’s hot and sticky like cream cheese, and the sweat pours through the layers of fat you’ve built up through years of neglect, what can you truly do about it? Wander around in the nude?

Well, I would suggest that course of action for the more attractive of the human race, but if you look like something that fell out of a dog’s bottom, please just don’t do it.

The first post of August 2008: Wow. I’m beside myself.

The blog needs burping.It’s the first post for August 2008 and amazingly I have an amazing announcement: it’s now been a two full years since Ooh Sometimes started on this bizarre digital realm, and at the moment there is a feeling of nostalgia hovering over us like the comedy rain cloud you see in….err….comedy films…

Let’s just have a look back at the very first ever blog post on Ooh Sometimes:

Well here is my first entry on a blog in quite a long time as it goes. At the great kindness of my friend, Mr Tebbutt, I now have a small place on the internet to make silly little comments about what is happening in life, and other things besides.

Well as I write this it is 12:30am on Wednesday 2nd August 2006. Coming up in the blog will be things work-related, the old Love life (of which there is a possible mini saga to be released, as soon as I know how I will end it!! LOL) and of course things I find funny.

All in all, I hope to add a fair amount soon.

Flat Night Fever

A fair while ago, I was in a bit of a downtrodden funk while residing in the current quarters here in London, a place with 6 letters in its name. You see, I have to be honest, where I am currently staying, I am fully convinced the place is only held together using sellotape, blu-tack and some sour cream from Belgium.

The shower alters between burning pain of hot, and a temperature so cold, it makes you forget about women for at least 72 hours. There appears to be an animal not of this earth living in a pile of crap underneath the stairs, and when questioned about this, the answer I received was “It mostly comes out at night, mostly….”

It has got to the point where I don’t even venture home after work for some time, simply to avoid having to trundle back until it’s absolutely necessary. I suppose that’s why despite my best or not very best efforts, I have dropped back to seldom writing on this tome of the damned as much, my uber of a machine, lies dormant within the clutches of the cave, powerless and gathering dust.

Before even heading down to the big city, I knew what the place was like beforehand, a throwback to the 1970’s eastern europe where a turnip had to be shared between 50 people and electricity was something to be afraid of, and yet, just like the Jews believing the Germans when they said “Go on, you have a nice shower now” I believed it was the best situation.
