Yes campers, I delve deeper into the wilderness bravely to watch Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and the lovely Karen Gillian. Jumanji was not content being left behind as a board game and came back as a video game. Does it still have the eye of the tiger or the red arse of a monkey? The Disaster Artist Aftermath
It’s finally arrived in the UK….the film of the book of the story behind the making of the best worst film I have watched; The Room. The Disaster Artist took the story for all of us to see how chaotic, funny and at times scary the production was. James Franco stars as Tommy Wiseau, and his brother Dave plays Greg Sestero. Do they do the story justice or does it become a disaster about a disaster?
A mini meh about….. Thor Fraggle-Rock (Ragnarok)

Admit it, now I’ve changed the name of the film to have Fraggle Rock, the them tune will be stuck in your head for ages. All part of the plan folks! But if you’re wondering if this is just mocking the title of the film, actually in this case, it’s more complimenting the tone of the new Thor film from Marvel Studios / Marvel Money Printing Machines Inc.
Directed by Taika Waititi, the happy go lucky scamp who brought us Hunt for the Wilderpeople. You know, that delightful comedy drama type thingy set in New Zealand with a cast quite mad. It was a surprisingly good film, and to this day, I would still honestly recommend it to anyone who gets the sense of humour.
And that sense of humour is actually going to be required here, as make no mistake, the first two thirds of Thor: Fraggle-Rock holds an insane amount of jokes in the same vein as Hunt for the Wilderpeople. In fact this is one point where it’s such a departure from the previous Thor films, you could actually think at various points they chuck out any of the chracter development that came before. This will lead into one of the biggest potential issues you may have with this film though I suspect the majority of people will be fine. Continue reading →
Justice League Aftermath
Twas a dark and cold Sunday morning when I went to watch Warner Bros and DC Comics latest cinematic attempt at not being rubbish; Justice League where we see all the characters advertised in Batman Vs. Superman come together to fight a bad guy who does things. Bad things. He’s bad….. Anyway, considering it’s taken a beating by critics and the public alike so far, is this the return to the crap we had before or have the reviews not been doing this film justice….see what I did there?
A mini meh in progress about…. Best F(r)iends
This is actually not the weirdest thing about the film….
It’s rather unusual to comment on a film which is only in progress as opposed to the finished products I normally remark on, but this really is something special. As it’s a work in progress, this is by no means the final verdict. Just thoughts based on what I watched a cold damp Monday night in September in London town. You see, there are two primary reasons to talk about this work in progress. Tommy Wiseau of the badly fantastic “The Room” film and Greg Sestero who co-starred in it and then co-wrote the epic book “The Disaster Artist” about said production and what went on behind the scenes, which is now a film in its own right (which believe me, is 100% getting covered here on its 1st December UK release date!).
The Room is now forever more a legend in the movie business, for it being so bat shit crazy and containing some of the best worst acting you would ever see. What’s more, it was a flop to begin with, but now enjoys massive international success as a very bad cult classic in its own right. At the Prince Charles cinema where they show the film pretty much every month at this point, spoons are thrown at the screen and every time there’s a panning shot of San Francisco in the film, the audience now says in unison; “Meanwhile, in San Francisco!” These are only a few of the highlights which has given people so much joy over the years, and honestly, I only can respect what was created and the people involved. It was and still is glorious.

Hello and welcome back to the long awaited series of Mini Meh reviews back on Ooh Sometimes, and frankly it couldn’t a better one to start off the mutterings of a fat sleepy old fart than with something entirely geek-filled and a touch of sadness. Sadness not in the geek factor of the mini meh, but the sadness of what this 72 minute film represents.
The release of Batman Vs Two-Face is somewhat timely one can argue, as it’s not long till Justice League drops on our doorsteps, the latest in the DC cinematic car crash being presided over by various people with large budgets, bad scripts, moody f**kers and the desire to make as much money as Marvel / Disney have done. Wonder Woman may have bought the DC Universe and Warner Bros some time and goodwill from the fans, but it’s looking very unlikely that Justice will do anything other than put a further nail in the coffin of the entire series.
In fact, given that Wonder Woman was the only film to be widely praised, including on this very blog and indeed a sequel is forthcoming for that alone so far, it wouldn’t be hard to imagine a huge reboot effort would come if the Justice League can’t bring justice to the huge lore and characters it all comes from.
Last year was particularly bad. Batman Vs. Superman was saggy pants to be polite about it, and with the other content released, the animated release of the 60s Batman, along with some of the original cast from then in Return of the Caped Crusaders by default became the best Batman film of 2016. It had humour, lots of references and nods to the 60s TV series, and a wonderful story which actually went places we never expected. It was just a welcome relief to enjoy Batman’s silly side once again, and given the success, a sequel was quickly given the go-ahead. Continue reading →
Thor: Fraggle-Rock (Ragnarok) Aftermath
Another long time since the last Aftermath video and now finally after well over a year waiting, Thor Ragnarok finally arrived on the Big Screen. Bringing back the family of Odin together, fighting the Hulk and Cate Blanchett being naughty, did the film leave me thundering with laughter and joy or did it make me angry and want to turn green?
