Turning Japanese, I’m turning Japanese, I really think so….
Good day to you all gentle readers, and it appears it’s another one of those update blog posts. Just as it seemed like things were coming to life here again, it’s going to be another bit of time before anything else turns up here.
Why you may ask?
Why, it appears that for the rest of September, The Lord of Leisure will be wandering around the land of the rising sun. No, not Grimsby, it’s actually a trip to Japan that’s been in the planning and saving for years.
The whole saving, plotting and scheming of this began during the pandemic, and once all the monies in the bank account was acquired it was then a case of sorting out when to actually go. It also meant using up most of the annual leave up in one go, so this is coming off of having 9 months of working through most weeks, so odds are the first couple of days will just go towards catching up with sleep.
Remarkably it feels weird to be going the other side of the world for an extended period of time, with also no debt to come from the endeavour everything was done ahead of time. More so, finally going to see places that we have only drooled over from the likes of Abroad in Japan, and various nerd videos remarking of the various nerd nirvanas created, such as Akihabara. During the pandemic, Games like Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Persona 5 Strikers gave rise to performing a type of virtual tourism, so that makes it even better to see how much they replicated places in those games.
Going in September to Japan was based on a few factors when deciding. It is just after the height of the burning summer heat that occurs in the country but also just in time to be wandering around Tokyo instead of this old place to pretend to celebrate getting even more older. Though the first day actually in Tokyo, it’s meant to be over 30C with a huge chance of a thunderstorm…. so swings and roundabouts. Probably also soggy socks as well.
Over the course of the month, you may see some pictures show up on the social medias, here and maybe, just maybe a silly Video Blog type thing that most folks do that are filled with awful “plinky-plonk” music and you seeing brushing of teeth or something that everyone of course is dying to see. But likely that wouldn’t be till I was back, being able to edit something together that was only mostly rubbish. It certainly would also depend on if I was spending time more enjoying life out there rather than recording everything like what we’re supposed to do.
Because that’s how this generation rolls and ting.
So till we meet again, either digitally or being scarred for life in reality, cheerio!
