Midweek Review
As promised here is an awe-inspiring yet ultimately shallow blog entry which will make you guys wonder why you even bother waking up in the mornings. So, business as usual.
The truth of the matter is, is that I could turn around and say, it’s just been work work work again, but then that would be a complete and utter fabrication, wouldn’t it? FOr the sake of the readership, something had to change. And like Tarzan, we swing into action, banging into trees along the way to help you say your prayers and drown you in the waters of entertainment.
SO…aside from the degree work, which actually is proceeding at an acceptable pace and I do indeed see the end of the production of the product in sight, which should come the weekend, which will only leave a mountain of paperwork to write only for the tutors to shred later, to do. Isn’t it wonderful?
As I was saying, aside from that naughty business, I find myself mouth open at the news this week, not just because Amy Winehouse is getting better and getting lots of awards for the fact her hair stays upright, but, what’s this? The Government aren’t content with taxing us to death and telling us all we are better off, when clearly that is not the case any more.
No, dear sweet various-gods-fearing people, they want to cut off the internet for anyone thought to be downloaded naughty copyrighted material without proof they were actaully doing it. This issue has already been covered extensively elsewhere at the BBC and Torrentfreak to name just two (that’s all I could be bothered to link to), it seems like this is more pandering to companies’ interests and not to the masses that pay the MPs wages.
Though if you are playing devils’ avocado, then you say all the employees at these companies are taxpayers too and they have every right to complain too, but that ruins my rant for this evening so will be ignored.
If this went through the UK would be the most heavily monitored nation in Europe. But surely the companies would realise there is clearly another reason why people do the whole bit torrent thing aside from not handing over their hard earned cash, which is dwindling ever more it seems. That, my friends, is “Availability”. Lots of these sites contain what can only be described as a swankier version of Sky +. People then don’t have to pay an extra £10 a month to record TV shows in better quality than the trusty VHS.
Back on point, not only is it more convenient and cheaper to use, turn on the old encryption thing and how is an ISP meant to know what you are doing? What about using alternative proxy servers in other countries? Those in the know get around the problem, while the casual downloader who while booking a week in March to generic glass dome place in the “center” of a “parc” (f**king hell, I possibly could be less obivous here!)may become upset when the ISP shut their connection off.
“Oh well, off to the Bahamas again, darling.” 🙂
It will catch some people, but that’s about it.
Now as that proposal sinks like the titanic and we go back to crying in our loved ones’ armpits, I do want to remark a wee bit on the latest installment of the Sam and Max franchise that my email client bounded forth to tell me about like some child who saw a cat get run over and got excited about it.
Episode 3: Night of the Raving Dead, which comes after Episode 2 for those not keeping up, seems to involve zombies on the loose, Sybil (a character who changes jobs more than I change my underpants, which in reality isn’t that often) looking once again for love and a naughty vampire man who wants to take over the world and turn it into a nightclub of hell.
Sounds fine so far.
From downloading to finishing the game it took 3 1/2 hours, and was once again solid all the way through, I swear the more you start thinking laterally, the easier the games are, as this was the quickest I ever played through an episode. However, I will play it again, as I really enjoyed the episode’s jokes, Superball made a surprise return as did other characters and sets from Season 1 which I had no idea was coming.
I would love to tell you all about it, but just download the demo and enjoy the beginning sequence. It’s worth it. No, don’t argue, just go and do it.
The Witcher is certainly interesting enough, and Monday, I even made it through to Chapter 2. After a mere 16 hours investment. CHRIST THIS THING IS LONG. (I know that last statement will be sending the search engines crazy, when people look for material of ill repute and end up here, perhaps I can save them from their digital pimping, which means more for me.) and I’m just wondering how much further I can go before crying “enough you damned hobo” and eating more pie.
The review for that is coming soon by the way, along with the podcast, which as it stands, the way things are going, will be pushed back to March. Some interesting topics to be had this time around (isn’t it always interesting?) with some nice music to split it up.
That’s all folks. I’ve had my fill, and frankly I know the content of the entries are rubbish at the present moment once again. I’ve lost my nitch for writing in an interesting, and entertaining way because during the day I have been doing nothing but work, even through the last weekend, and then at night I have been either too tired to do anything laudable, or so wound up, I end up playing a game instead to take the edge off. It has even been commented now, that since I enguaged this “work” mode, I have become a dull boy with no true sense of fun.
While that is worrying, it’s not completely unexpected. I’ve been blocking out and awful lot of stuff just so I can get what I need to do done, but the message I have been handed is look away once in a while and enjoy yourself, unwind that sort of thing. I do feel like I need a jolly good break, but there is no real oppotunity until the end of May for that, save for a weekend in March when Glyn and his homies come down Oswestry to help me kill those mothers and rule the hood. Right on bitch etc.
I need some inspiration, something other than just the gaming and work. There’s always moaning about the state of affairs in the world, that’s never going to get any better, but even that seems to be trival compared to what I have on my fat-man sized plate. Perhaps, this blog will end up like Field of Dreams, if I write it, it will come.
Nah, that’s crap. Good day!
