Episode 5: Foriegn films, doing naughty and driving at night.
The weekend has been a busy time for us all it seems. I for instance demonstrated my prowess for fixing computer things by putting things into slots and hitting it until like HAL, it meets a bitter end. In this case, it was my good friend Dave’s new shiny PC, a powerful beast that puts fear into most games and even goes as far as raping the games’ offspring and ripping off the parents nipples with a pair of bottle openers. Except it didn’t switch on.
So enter the Lord of Leisure with his powers of laziness coupled with layers of foresight and well, after testing with various parts to see when it went wrong, it turns out it was a faulty memory module. I have never seen a machine not power up without at least giving off some beeps from the little speaker that dwells within, but hey ho, life always shows that you learn something new every day.
And now Dave is forced to admit I am the greatest who ever lived, and even stand things when I fart heavily due to an overdose of the musical fruit. But trying his machine at Bioshock, even with just 1 gig of RAM and Windows Vista installed, it played with not one issue. Smooth as silk, my word these Intel core jobs and Geforce 8800 cards are the dogs private parts.
In the afternoon, was back in Shrewsbury to see the lady friend, and spent the evening together watching Top Gear and Califorcation. When Top Gear appeals to women, you know they are doing the right thing.
Then you’re enjoying a British meal of haddock and wedges with mushy peas, and by jove, you are glad you haven’t had your legs implanted with metal just like Wolverine. And well it’s quite strange really, it appears we have got to the “Don’t have to go out, we are better off just staying in” stage of the relationship. My god, what have we done?
But Today is Sunday. My powers of observation are serving me well….anyway it was a very exhausting day for many reasons, but the main one was gyming on a Sunday.
Oh it’s a terrible thing to do on the day of rest (every day is a day of rest for me as it goes) but alas I hadn’t been during the week because of HL2: EP2 and other terrible things such as overtime at work and the fact we ran out of cheese. So it was my duty to go today and show the usual posers who’s boss. It was them as they are fitter.
I also watched another foreign film today, not another Russian film if you were wondering, no it was a film from Estonia. It was meant to be a “Monty Python” style mickey take of Estonian history, and well I could give a full and honest review of it and it would annoy anyone from Estonia, because it’s a case of national pride, isn’t it? More than likely you would defend you own countries films.
But regretfully I have to say it’s a fine example of why people don’t watch many films from places other than America or any British films involving Keira Knightley or Simon Pegg. What was they whole thing on about, and why is the only stereotype the Estonians can get about the French is that they eat frogs?
Even the Americans came up with “Cheese eating surrender monkeys” Come on, be more adventurous!! And there were only a few moments where you get a slight chuckle, like the bad guy chasing the hero across multiple countries, all the while running. But alas it hasn’t sold the humour to me at all.
And finally I have to pick up mummy from the airport. At 11pm this evening. Which is lovely considering the round trip to Liverpool to north Wales and back home, then waking up at 6am to get to Birmingham for some more training.
Which will only serve to kill me silly with tiredness. I’m just wishing I could go to bed now. And frankly I am afraid of a repeat performance with me driving across lanes again. Some things you should just not do. This is one of them.
Never mind eh? I leave you all now with this thought:
Why can you never find what you need except for when you don’t need it?
