24: The Sunday after all is said and done…
Well campers, Aunty Bett is now home and we are all happy. She is chirpy as anything and will get better even more now she is away from there. Fantastic! Nurse will come in every day for her, but on the whole she is free to do what she likes at home. At the moment, she’s just having a kip, it’s just good to have someone home again every day, and she will be able to keep me on my toes a lot more now.
She said her farewells to the other women around her and to the nurses as well. Some cards were given as a thank you along with two tubs of Celebrations, well they deserve more being honest as they helped Aunty Bett so much but then again that would onto the old argument of how understaffed and underpaid the nurses are on the NHS but that’s for another time methinks.
Happy days are back in Oswestry again. Really happy.
Mum and Dad came and went as usual, they had a few words to say about my new shiny toy, of which I am using right now dear campers to have fun with, and as I politely raised my voice with a reasonable argument towards mother, it all seems to have died down now. Like I said, no nice car means very nice machine, and campers…. it is very nice.
In fact it has gone some way to persuade me Vista is not all that crap actually. It runs like a dream bearly breaking a sweat in most things. There is stutter though as I waltzed through Quake 4 at 1920 x 1200 resolution on Ultra Detail, but methinks this is down to the on-board sound which can be sorted with one extra order to OCUK for a Sound Blaster if required.
this is the look of the beast on my desk at home now, as you can see you can’t help but stare at the 24in widescreen monitor can you? Trust me, it is like playing games on a big screen telly with a console but also watching films as well is different. I like this screen, it even came with a USB hub and Card reader built in. No dead pixels yet, though it has only been on a few hours at most. Very good monitor indeed.
And finally for Glyn who wanted to know what the score from 3D Mark 06 (a geeks benchmark tool used to wave our tiny manhoods about to other geeks, and which people in the real world don’t care about) for the system here it is, and bear in mind it is running on vista which slows things down quite a bit even now:
No idea if that is good or bad, but what the hey? It wasted a few minute testing the system out! But It is the last uber system I will ever buy. That’s it now, no more pc bits. (He says knowing full well something else will tempt him down the line)
Right back in the real world now and the coming week promises to be dull. Nought going on in funky town really and it looks to be like that till next week when we travel back to Manchester for a “Civilised” evening with others….hmm, wonder what is civilised nowadays actually?
The podcast is in the middle of recording and I sincerely hope that i do release it today as i said earlier as it’s been a few weeks since old Glastonbury and it’s getting a bit long in the tooth now isn’t it?
Also have some paperwork to get on with and cleaning the house too. When will it end and I can go back to playing?
BYE ALL!!!!
