24: The Weekend In Brief
Good evening, This is the ten o’clock news on Sunday 13th May.
The Headlines:
Aunty Bett has now gone into Hospital to have her hip replaced, and the operation was carried out on Thursday of last week, She went into intense care afterwards, and she was quite bad really afterwards, which goes without saying as she is 80 and it will take a lot of most people at that age. She was very tired from not much sleep after all these weeks in pain, so now she is getting some well deserved rest. She was alright friday, but quite bad on Saturday afternoon when we went to see her, she did improve while we were there (the we btw being Mum, Dad and myself) and today she was again better, with the sign of being noisy seeing what is going on taken as a good one! The Nurses at Gobowen Orthepedic Hospital are brilliant, please everyone send them lots of nice things!!
It is concerning to say the least but at least she is on the mend, it will just take sometime for Aunty Bett to better, and even when she is back from the hospital, she will be a bit iffy. But as far as I am concerned, it’s all good, as she is getting better. That’s what we want!
And also this weekend was a biggie. I say a biggie not only in terms of Aunty Bett, but I did see Glyn again for the first time in a YEAR!! HOORAY!!! CUE THE PARADES, PEOPLE OF THE WORLD CELEBRATE!! Yes good people, I made my way to manchester this weekend to see Glyn, His mummy, Kelly, Sam, Dave and Speical Guest Star: Kevin (Mr P.I. to you lot!!) Kevin is an investigator btw, no joke, works in the Leeds area as does Sam. We had to see the results to the garden alterations that glyn spent last week performing, and ye, it was good. But the weather once again let us down, every bleeding time I go to Manchester, it wees down with rain. Dammit, give me clear skies just once!! But the evening was filled with food, drink, conversation about alsorts of topical things, such as the situation about the missing girl in Portugal and how the parents just left the kids alone while they had a meal out. Hmm. And Kevin was given this lovely little man thing, like one of those lead figures from Warhammer, but not. You don’t have to throw a six or anything!
But the strangest thing was Sam, and the fact that he seems to be very angry about many things when drunk. It was scary but also quite funny!! Fair play mate! Also never figured Glyn for liking Johnny Cash! Ah, the memories of Singstar came into my head when that was played out. Ring of fire, man song. Nuff said! We were also having fun with a digital camera, recording some of the conversations and then i was trying to squah sam’s head via Speical Effect type things, well, it was funny at the time!! Mr flibble didn’t make an appearence this time btw, in case any of you wondered. Also had some discussion about this very blog, and what stuff to be done on it. Oh yes, campers, don’t think what you see here now is the final product, fair from it, in fact this is a placeholder before the grand unveiling of the final product. Think of this place as oohsometimes V1.5. Wait till version 2 🙂
Sunday in manchester was slow in the morning, but little did I know, everyone else was knackered after Sam was a wee bit iffy, and was unwell in the morning. I had slept all through this, sorry!! But we were all up and having a jolly good natter, while swapping lorry loads of files as you do. Yes the thing is, a lot of us there are Geeks, and this is the type of thing geeks do. i.e. “Do you have…..” and the answer is yes which is followed by: “I’m having that” See, I have laid bare the mystery of geekdom. Never mind.
Slight Issue today with the Ford Fiesta, An error flashes up saying EAC Fail, and then you can no longer accelerate. Indeed. After a call to the garage saying call the RAC as their service department was closed, the RAC Man came along with a laptop and plugged into the car. Little did I know, there is a port under the steering wheel where you can plug a machine in and talk to the onboard computer. It showed the fault lying with a sensor related to the pedal. One bloody sensor was causing me so much trouble! That’s the problem with all this electronic crap, (he says, working in IT and also typing on a laptop now) the more complicated you make something, the more likely it will break. And it hasn’t helped my opinion of the Ford Car, which as some of you are aware, i do despise. Keep thinking about getting rid of it and getting a new car from scratch. But anyway we shall see how we go with the garage tommorow, which is M53 Ford btw. My opinion at present is not good, shall we say.
Saw Matt Saturday ever so briefly in Shrewsbury, i say briefly as he needed to get new brakes for his new car, dear me, it seems these second hand cars have hidden issues. Nothing quite as it seems. But there we are. Never mind. It was quite good anyway, as we had a good natter about rubbish, got excited over the Mr. Potato Heads in Game, the Spider Spud as well, oh yes, I know it says 2+, I am the plus, nuff said.
Mum and Dad have come to stay the weekend to visit Aunty Bett, and they were quite welcome as it goes. Was quite happy that they were here for a change, but it seems to be one or the other about the family visits. Again, it’s one of those things I guess.
Natalie, was happy to see me friday after the visit to Aunty Bett, as she cooked a lovely dinner, and we watched some of Ugly Betty, the show which the Devil wears prada could only dream about being. Granted it’s about the fashion industry, but it is far more entertaining than the film ever was. Film was awful, if it was a person on fire, I wouldn’t even wee on it to save it’s life. Nat had to pick up some people from a college up the road from Acton Piggot, but had some issues with driving the Focus through some guests cars (she works at a B&B), so it was Paul to the rescue!! All good.
That was the weekend in brief, I am Paul Hughes, The Space Adventurer. Good Night!!
I know you were a bit crazy my friend, it was just funny! Indeed i hope too not to leave it another year myself. And ta very much. WordPress has been designed at the people who just want to set up a blog with about 2 minutes of effort. If you want more out of it, you have to work on it.
Glyn is working on a new version of PlasticBlog atm which should have lots of the same features as wordpress but a lot more refined and faster response. That version will be making an appearence on oohsometimes.com at some point in the future.
Cars are a pain really, too much money and it is only ever wasted. And cheers for that mate, SHe is getting better as we speak. Take it easy mate!
I wasn’t angry at all man, I was just loud and a bit crazy 😀 (I can see why you thought I was angry but I’m just naturally loud lol) I can’t believe how pissed I was though, I don’t usually get like that, but then I don’t usually drink over 3 pints of wine (still not sure quite how I managed that) – and the strange thing was I was absolutely fine until I threw up! It was nice to see you again though, hopefully you won’t leave it another year!
I like the blog, nice work! What is WordPress like to use and customise? I am toying with the idea of using WordPress to set up a football blog for next season! I tend to agree that modern cars overdo the electronics. I think a lot of it isn’t needed and just brings added complications when they (inevitably) go wrong.
Glad to hear that your aunt is getting better, hope she makes a full recovery soon.
